International Wheelchair Day is on the horizon. The annual awareness day on March 1st serves as a global celebration of the positive impact wheelchairs have on the lives of individuals with disabilities.

In honor of this awareness day, Enable has put together some tips to benefit our Account Owners who use wheelchairs. Read on to learn more:

Utilize Apps:

There are many free iPhone and Android apps to further ease mobility needs and accessibility when on the go. From Wheelmap, an iPhone application used to find wheelchair accessible places in your community including restaurants bathrooms, to the website MobilityWorks which helps to find wheelchair accessible vehicles for rent or sale, there are a plethora of resources available at the touch of a button.

Get Local:

Call ahead before planning a fun activity such as the zoo or a museum to ensure your destination is fully accessible. Additionally, check out your local disability organizations for free events and offerings within your community.

Tap into Your Enable Account:

Wheelchairs are considered a Qualified Disability Expense for Enable Account Owners, so make sure to take advantage and tap into your Enable savings to pay for any wheelchair related costs, including maintenance and repairs. Approved expenses can also include installation of ramps and other items to help improve mobility in your home. Read up on the full list of Qualified Disability Expenses to see what else your Enable account can cover.

Have a question about Qualified Disability Expenses? The Enable team remains ready to answer any and all questions that new and current Account Owners may have as they navigate the savings landscape.
