Today is the day we've been waiting for! I'm so proud to contribute today’s blog post for the official launch day of the Enable Savings Plan.

When the Nebraska Treasurer's Office and First National Bank of Omaha decided to launch a national ABLE plan we knew there would be a lot of hurdles to get through. Through the contributions of so many colleagues, members of the disability community and their families, we have achieved a significant milestone that allows individuals to open an Enable Savings Plan account starting today. As I watched Jacob Gehringer open the very first Enable account today, I was filled with so much pride in how far we've come, as well as excitement for all that's left to accomplish.

It was such a thrill to bring together our community at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium today to "Embrace Enable" and launch this plan as a cohesive group. From national disability organization representatives, to the Nebraska State Treasurer, to local kids and young adults and their families, the day was made complete by the overwhelming amount of support and enthusiasm that poured in.

With all this excitement and momentum, let's forever think of June 30th as "Enable Savings Plan Day" in the state of Nebraska, and celebrate each year with new program milestones. After all, this is only the beginning.
