March is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month (MS), a time centered on raising awareness for the 2.3 million people with MS worldwide, illuminating research efforts, and working to spread hope and support for those affected.

This awareness combined with access to important resources such as savings accounts, transportation and support groups can truly make all the difference for individuals in the MS community, allowing for greater autonomy and the affordance of more opportunities. Alongside independence comes employment, engagement within the community, relationship building and the simple enjoyment of everyday life—experiences that no one should ever have to sacrifice due to a lack of knowledge surrounding available options.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society organizes events all over the United States—such as Walk MS in May—and in Nebraska, the National MS Society’s Mid-America chapter offers:

  • Advice and resources for health and wellness, employment and financial planning
  • Online group forums
  • Personal stories from the Mid-America chapter
  • Ways to get involved via donating or volunteering

Enable recognizes the impact of support and access for the individuals with disabilities. Financial security through an Enable account has the ability to transform what may have been a difficult situation into one that feels easier to shoulder. We are proud to work with individuals in the MS community and beyond to achieve financial independence.
